Vivid description of Apollo re-entry was a highlight of Chris Hadfield’s Apollo Murders. Recommend. Read in February 2022.
Month: November 2023
Stardust
Enjoyed Stardust from Neil Gaiman. The plot was slightly different from the movie – Michelle Pfeiffer was really well cast. Read in January 2022.
Axiom’s End
Can’t beat a good alien conspiracy. Axiom’s End was an unputdownable holiday read from Lindsay Ellis. Read in January 2022.
Foundation
Foundation from Iaac Asimov is still one of the greats. Must catch the series. Re-read in December 2021.
Children of Time
Great SciFi from Adrian Tchaikovsky. A view of biological computation, genetic memory, accelerated evolution. Read in November 2021.
The Jungle Book
Kipling’s jungle book was not what I expected and not just ‘Disney’. One of the stories about a family trying to survive a harsh winter was frightening. Definitely environmental themes in a book written in the late 1800s. Read in November 2021.
Travels with my Aunt
Everybody needs a scandalous relative like Aunt Augusta. Graham Greene at his witty best. Read in August 2021.
Earthsea
Dragons, magic, a road trip – what more do you need. Great holiday reading from Ursula K. Le Guin. Read in August 2021.
Surely you’re Joking Mr. Feynmann
Quantum physicist Richard Feynman was a unique character – definitely not monochrome. 23 years since I last read this collection of stories and he’d still near the top of my fantasy dinner party list. Re-read in June 2021.
Project Hail Mary
Those who know me know I love sci-fi. This was a great read. I found it very moving. About friendship as much as space. Well done Andy Weir. Read in June 2021.
